This free ongoing series explores the amazing choral scene in San Diego. Join us for our third installment at 5:00pm on Friday, May 21, when local choral conductors Lindsey Deaton (San Diego Queer Youth Choir) and Arlie Langager (MiraCosta College) interview each other on a wide range of topics from musical inspirations to their best bargain purchases. Lindsey Deaton is the Founding Artistic Director of the San Diego Queer Youth Choir. She is also the Founding Artistic Director of the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles and the Diverse City Youth Chorus in Cincinnati, OH. Lindsey’s work with choruses has been covered and featured on NPR, MSNBC, LA Weekly, The Advocate and in the LA TIMES, ‘Providing an essential voice.
Arlie Langager is an educator, singer, and conductor. Dr. Langager joined the faculty at MiraCosta College in 2008 where she conducts the choirs, serves as the chair of the music department, and teaches voice. Before moving to Southern California, Dr. Langager completed her doctoral studies at the University of Texas at Austin. In addition to adjudicating for choral and vocal festivals, she is an active clinician with high school and community ensembles.
